Getting Them to A.S.K. For Treatment:
A Periodontal Case Acceptance Program

(2 CE credits) Presented by Katrina Sanders, RDH

We see patients in a perceived state of health. Despite the unending research around the prevalence of oral disease, dental providers are met with a myriad of challenges when it comes to optimized case acceptance for advanced dental treatment. Using the “Assessment - Strategy - Knowledge” technique, learn how you can achieve high level treatment case acceptance simply by changing the dialogue around dentistry and ultimately: getting them to ask you for their needed treatment! Join periodontal hygienist Katrina M. Sanders in this engaging and interactive program built to optimize periodontal treatment plan case acceptance.

  • Identify the ways in which the assessment phase within the dental hygiene process of care is the greatest educational tool for dental patients.
  • Develop a customized strategy to create unique, patient-centered and value-added conversation to drive patient involvement.
  • Learn how to thread knowledge into all facets of the dental hygiene process of care, providing the patient with a comprehensive awareness of their oral and systemic health.

Best Practices for Perio Tray™ Therapy (2 CE credits)
Presented by Tanya Dunlap, PhD

Treating periodontal disease not only improves oral health, it also reduces a chronic inflammatory burden on patients’ immune system. Unfortunately, it is one of the most underdiagnosed diseases and difficult to treat successfully over time.

Antibiotics have been prescribed for decades and still the incidence of disease is high. You can treat active gingival infections with long-term success using adjunctive prescription tray delivery of hydrogen peroxide gel deep into periodontal pockets. Research shows that this delivery combined with SRP leads to more significant pocket depth and bleeding reductions than SRP alone.

Attend this presentation to learn the science behind the delivery, case presentation ideas, and everyday business calculations.

Curiosity Revived the Cat (2 CE credits)
Presented by Amanda Hill, RDH

Attention dental professionals!
We all know what it feels like to be unfulfilled, lose sight of our purpose,
or ready to throw in the towel.

It's time to break free from those chains and unleash the power of our curiosity! Sure, as kids we were all curious little explorers, but as we aged, society conditioned us to believe our curiosity could lead to trouble. So we stopped questioning and just went through the motions, sinking into the monotony of "getting it done." But let's be real: that's when we lose sight of ourselves, our passion, and our connection to our profession, teams, and patients. Well, no more! It's time to rekindle that natural sense of awe and wonder that got us here in the first place!

In this course, we will delve into various techniques to manage stress, communicate effectively in challenging scenarios, use motivational interviewing techniques, and more. We will travel down the five pathways and explore our: self, profession, education, patients, and team. By tapping into our inherent sense of wonder, we'll not only ignite our passion for our work but also enhance the connection with our patients, team, and ourselves. So come along and discover how curiosity will revive you...just like the cat!

  • Recognize the importance of mindset and how it impacts our thoughts, behaviors, and ultimately our success
  • Assess the various stress outlets and how they lead to better overall wellbeing
  • Identify actionable steps to ‘level up’ your dental career
  • Analyze the power of “Why” as it relates to the patient experience
  • Apply diverse communication frameworks which foster confidence in patient and
    team interactions

Optimal Gingival Health and Restorative Outcomes with Perio Protect (2 CE credits)
Presented by Tanya Dunlap, PhD

Reducing chronic infectious burdens on the immune system has always been important in healthcare, and dentistry is no different. Oral infections like those associated with gum disease place a chronic low-grade burden on the immune system, and treatment for it has been associated not only with health gums, but also with improvements in systemic health outcomes and optimal restorative results.

Attend this course to review the science and the practice of Rx Tray homecare. We’ll set goals for your own practice and workshop case presentation.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify the benefits and limitations of antimicrobials with oxidative and oxygenating reactions for biofilm management.
  • Recognize patient candidates who can benefit from Rx Tray therapy and the appropriate tray treatment protocol.
  • Understand how a simple number can be an effective basis for improving health outcomes.
